🇮🇹 Matteo Carta suona King Shepherd and the Lost Sheep, un progetto nato dall’esigenza di raccontare paesaggi e rituali di un mondo antico e “isolano”, ormai quasi scomparso, ma di cui permane un lontano e profondo eco interiore. Il nucleo musicale è l’esplorazione del suono intimo e ipnotico del banjo, alternando momenti delicati e descrittivi a passaggi esasperati e caotici. Il progetto si ispira al movimento musicale Primitive americano di John Fahey, alle sonorità delle tradizioni native, non solo sarde, e alle atmosfere della musica nordafricana e mediterranea. L’immaginario creativo affonda le radici nella Natura Sarda, nei paesaggi campestri e primitivi, nel mondo agropastorale e nei rituali preistorici e dionisiaci del folklore dell’isola.
Alla fine del 2024 viene pubblicato in vinile il primo lavoro del progetto per l’etichetta indipendente Kono Dischi.
🇬🇧 Matteo Carta performs King Shepherd and the Lost Sheep, a project born from the desire to evoke the landscapes and rituals of an ancient, insular world that has almost entirely disappeared, yet whose distant and profound echo can still be felt. At the heart of the project is an exploration of the intimate and hypnotic sound of the banjo, alternating delicate, evocative moments with more intense and chaotic passages. The music draws inspiration from the American Primitive movement, particularly the approach of John Fahey, as well as traditional sounds from Sardinia and other indigenous cultures, and the atmospheres of North African and Mediterranean music. The project’s creative imagery is deeply rooted in Sardinia’s natural landscape, its rural and primitive environments, pastoral traditions, and the prehistoric and Dionysian rituals of Sardinian folklore.
At the end of 2024, the project’s first release was produced on vinyl by the independent label Kono Dischi.
